04.02.10 Competitions
All competitions are based on gross scores
1. Champion
a. Overall Lowest Gross Score by a competitor.
In the event of a tie, the tied competitors shall play one or more extra holes, on a sudden victory basis, following the final round.
b. The W.G. ‘Bill’ McCallMemorial Plaque is presented to the Champion.
The Champion receives a keeper plaque
c. The Champion receives a supplementary gift certificate in addition to the one they received for winning their division.
2. Provincial Team Selection
a. A four (4) member Provincial Team and alternate(s) are selected at this event
In the event of ties for the team or alternate positions, the tied competitors shall play one or more extra holes, on a sudden victory basis, following the final round.
b. Each member of the Provincial Team receives a keeper plaque
c. Team Composition
1. The two (2) competitors with the lowest combined gross scores who have:
· Reached their fortieth (40th) birthday
· A Nova Scotia Health Card
· Not advised the committee they cannot represent the province at the National competition.
2. The two (2) competitors (excluding the above) who finish with the lowest combined gross scores who have:
· A Nova Scotia Health Card
· Not advised the committee they cannot represent the province at the National competition.
3. One (1) or two (2) alternates shall be selected in case a member of the selected team becomes unavailable to represent the province based on the following.
· There shall be one alternate if the competitor who finishes with the next lowest combined gross scores has reached his fortieth (40th) birthday.
· There shall be two alternates if the competitor who finishes with the next lowest combined gross scores has not reached his fortieth (40th) birthday.
· The second alternate is the competitor with the lowest combined gross scores who has reached their fortieth (40th) birthday. He is the alternate should either of the team members who has reached their fortieth (40th) birthday be unable to represent the province at the national competition.
· Alternates must have:
· A Nova Scotia Health Card
· Not advised the committee they cannot represent the province at the National competition.
3. Divisional
a. The number of divisions is the integer result of dividing the number of Competitors teeing off on day 1 of the tournament by forty (40).
b. The division breakpoints are based on competitor handicaps calculated as follows: (RCGA Handicap Factor * Slope / 113)
c. The number Gift Certificates shall be equal across the divisions.
d. The value of the gift certificates is based a percentage set by the executive each year and the number of players teeing off on day 1. See appendix …
e. In the event of ties within a division, it shall be broken by matching scorecards on the following sets of holes:
· Lowest gross score for holes 10-18; 13-18; 16-18; 18
· Lowest gross score for holes 1-9; 4-9; 7-9; 9
· If this process does not break the tie, the previous round’s cards should matched using this process. If there is no previous round is available the tie will be broken by lot.
